Vacation: will return in three weeks
Saturday, August 19th, 2006
I would have made this post earlier, but things have prevented me from getting a post up here on the site. First, I had to have a picture to post for download. While I have a lot of pictures, I didn’t think I had one that was “the” one to post. Second, I had to have time. Saturday, Sunday and Monday were pretty much losses since I was working a midnight shift at Ritz Camera. The store was undergoing a little renovation (paint and carpet), and I was asked to watch the crews to make sure they didn’t steal anything.
So it wasn’t until today that I had enough time to write anything. Unfortunately, all the things about which I had planned on writing have escaped me, and I’m left with very little. I’ll do the best with what I have.
On Sunday, August 20, I will be departing on the annual(?) vacation. This time it’s to Canada to visit relatives, and then on to Yosemite Yellowstone National Park to see things. Supposedly, we’re going to drive twenty-four hours to get into Canada as soon as possible: I’m not sure whether we’ll make it or not. It’ll be interesting to see. We have a trailer to put some extra things (because as other years, we’re sleeping in a tent, not a hotel), so the van itself will be fairly free of supplies. However, because of the extra room, I’ve packed half a studio into a bunch of bags, and am going to be lugging the stuff around on the trip. I was considering getting a back brace to handle the load, but didn’t have the time or money to get around to it.
I was able to purchase a Wolverine Flashpack 7060 and an iPod Camera Connector, which give me around 90GB of space for my digital photos. By my calculations, that’s as much as 9000 images in the format I prefer. I also purchased an Epson PictureMate Express, a 4×6″ printer, which I can use to print photos I just shot. The printer can actually print some surprisingly high quality pictures: I’ve been pretty impressed.
