Visited Meadow Brook Hall again
Friday, May 2nd, 2008
I recently visited Meadow Brook Hall again (the same place the family photo was taken) and took some pictures alone. I tried to emulate the post-processing of some photos I’ve recently seen from various photographers on the Web, though I don’t know how successful I was with some of the photos.
The last image in the list is a composite of three images, resulting in an higher-definition panoramic image than one wide-angle shot. I unfortunately visited the grounds on an overcast day, so I attempted to spruce the sky up a bit with a better cloud image. Again, I don’t know if I succeeded in my attempt. For a bit there I wasn’t going to display the image, but as you can see, I changed my mind just enough to upload it to the site.
Today’s Image is a composite of thirteen images. It’s a stone inlay in the courtyard in the picture I described above. I unfortunately didn’t think about taking any pictures of the surrounding stones, so I had to “cobble” together the surrounding stonework from a separate photo of the courtyard’s stones (which is included in this list). The completed file of the composite images is rather large, and manages to take quite some time to load, save, and edit.
I intended to show more pictures, but there were a few circumstances that prevented me from uploading them. First, the angles of the building I photographed which I thought were pleasing at the time didn’t look as good as I hoped when I viewed them later; secondly, the unfortunate weather helped kill the “look” of the photos; and finally, I just simply didn’t like the quality. I planned on panoramic images of both the front and back of the building, but because I didn’t take a tripod with me, I ended up with an incongruous assortment of images that weren’t suitable for merging. I plan on revisiting the Hall again to properly shoot the photos for the panoramic images.
